It's time to shoot your shot

Have you ever wanted a casual opportunity to ask out that one person that is in your class? Well you’re in luck! Shoot your Shot week is on April 18 through 22, and it is a full week of events that are great for a fun date night. Shoot your Shot week started last year and is a week meant for students to ask out their friends or their latest crush.

“SGA [Student Government Association] is coordinating all events, but we are hosting the Thursday night event in the caf. It is going to be a fun meal modeling the iconic restaurant Lambert’s Café, home of the thrown rolls. We will have a southern style menu in the caf, and yes we will be throwing rolls. It will be like a sit-down restaurant with SGA reps serving the student body their food! There may even be some country line dancing involved?!” Hannah Demoss, the Events Chair for SGA, said. DeMoss coordinated T.W.I.R.P week which occurred in the fall semester, and she is coordinating the Shoot your Shot Week events.

“It is an exciting week that features events every night, which encourage community on campus. It also is an opportunity for friend groups or couples to enjoy free or low cost activities,” DeMoss said. The week of events is meant to create a space for students to have fun and get to know one another. DeMoss is more than thrilled that the week is coming up soon.

“It is going to be SO fun! They are not going to want to miss out on these events because they help foster community at OBU!” DeMoss said. DeMoss is not the only student who is excited for the date week. Freshman, Bella Cangelosi, is excited for the Picnic Night and the Ferris Wheel Night.

“It is a great opportunity to get to know one another better, and it does NOT have to be a week only for couples, or students who want to “shoot their shot”! Just have fun with your friends, that is what I will be doing,” Cangelosi said. Nick Thomas, a Junior Psychology major, is also growing more excited about the event week.
