JOAN is coming to OBU

Every spring University Concert Series (UCS) has a spring concert and this year is no exception. Joan is coming to Oklahoma Baptist University on April 2nd! Joan is “an Arkansas-based duo determined to ignite some '80s/'90s pop nostalgia with their retro, modern-day tunes,” according to PEOPLE. The concert will start at 7:30pm on the front steps of Raley, and the gates will open at 7pm, but that is not all that will be there.

The Kappas, Thetas, Betas, Omegas and Lambdas will have booths with yard games available before the concert begins as well. Not only will there be outdoor activities, but there will also be a food truck selling various treats.

Scotty’s Ice and Espresso will be selling coffee, ice cream, shaved ice and specialty marshmallows. It is a local food truck, and UCS is excited to work with the local business. Along with the social clubs, food truck and music there will also be a raffle with prizes that were donated from local businesses. Anyone who comes to the concert can enter the raffle, and the winners will be announced after the opener before Joan begins their show.

“I’m so excited to see a band I’ve only seen on my phone for a long time in real life! They are so good and the vibes are going to be even better. I’d be surprised if the turnout isn’t huge!” Peyton King, a UCS member, said. King has been a part of UCS for the past year and is a part of the playlists team. She is not the only UCS member excited for the concert.

“I’m stoked about the upcoming concert with joan. I personally look forward to these concerts every year and enjoy having live music being performed on campus,” Ellie Huff, a UCS member, said. Huff has been a part of UCS for 3 years and is also a part of the playlist team.
